Default Netgear DG834GT

Has anyone managed to get the Netgear DG834GT to work with their Be connection?

I would really like to know this, as my speedtouch repeatadly loses the wireless connection. I did raise a ticket with BE asking them how to use another router so should expect a response early next year

I am not with BE but I do have an ADSL2+ connection and I must say that the DG834GT seems to be a huge improvement on the router I was supplied with which was a Zxyel 661HW - I have a attenuation of 31db on my line and the Zyxel was connecting at an average of 11Mbits though it did from time to time sync at 13Mbits - but after receiving the Netgear I am now syched at 17.6Mbits! That is a big jump and although I have yet to check the setting for myself and see how stable the line is it looks like the Netgear is a huge improvement!

My line was very unstable though - but even if it is still unstable it seems at that sync speed that even if I am downgraded to increase stability my slower sync speed will be faster than the fastest sync on the Zyxel!

I have a Netgear DG834G (version1 with latest firmware) that I've been happy with for the past 2 years, and after a short dissapointing play with the Be modem, went back to using again. As Irksome said, No Login, LLC, VPI: 0, VCI: 101 indeed works. Overall the speed seems to be about the same as the Be modem (~3000 / 800 Kbps), but the DHCP renewal is alot better.

Netgear DT384GT with latest firmware (V1.01.28) here connected to Be... I've not had a stable enough connection to run speed tests - I'm kinda just grateful to actually be getting onto the internet at the moment!!

Hi,</div>
I got my Netgear DG834GT yesterday and got it working quite quickly.</div>
I've found the firmware upgrade (to V1.01.28) to be quite flaky with my Be connection. Twice when I left everything running for unattended for long periods of time, the modem seemed to have lost its connection i.e. ip, DNS were showing as blank but part of the modem still seemed to think it was connected. I got it going it again both times by switching the modem off then on again.</div>
This evening I reverted the firmware back to V1.01.01 (I think - the first version anyway) and so far it seems to have held up.</div>

Latest Statistics:</div>
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 9474 kbps 1001 kbps
Line Attenuation 12.0 db 12.8 db
Noise Margin 32.5 db 18.2 db </div>
(Problem with the original firmware is that the attenuation and noise figures are the wrong way round)..</div>

Well as I posted on the other thread here is my stats using a v1.01.28 DT384GT:

From about 1am -> midday today things seem fine with that really... Although it's in the evenings when things really go downhill.... Still not getting more than 2Mb download though...
